There are days when you feel like you are just one of the crowd. Like one amongst many and no one stands out in any way shape or form. Like part of the herd all heading in the same direction. No leader, no interaction, just move and get there all at the same time.

Some days you want life to be that way. You do not want to get noticed. You just want to get through what you need to get through to end the day. Maybe other things are on your mind – problems, illness, loved ones in trouble, or financial challenges. Maybe you had a long week and just want to get home to put on your pajamas and eat ice cream. Maybe you are thinking deeply about how to resolve a situation and you get home before you even realize you were in the car. Your mind may just be somewhere else and moving with the crowd is making sure you get to your destination. Sometimes the herd is the way to go.

And yet none of us want to be part of the herd all of the time. We want to be noticed. We want to be valued for who we are and what we bring to the table. We want our unique qualities to be appreciated and put to use for the greater good. We want to stand out from the crowd and shine as who we are, no matter what enyone else thinks. Part of knowing how to survive your day is knowing is this a herd day or a stand out day? Is this the moment to go with the flow, or is it time to stand out and be counted? Only you know which kind of day it is, so choose it, live it, and do what you need to do to make your day livable.
