A friend has this beautiful stained glass tree hanging in her living room window. I had never seen a tree depicted this way in stained glass. The colors of the leaves and the energy shown by the way the pieces of glass have been arranged is amazing. Looking at this tree brought me back to Spring, which seems far away right now. This tree reminded me of the circle of life. Just as the season of Fall is upon us, so Winter will follow. And once Winter leaves, Spring will again shine life giving light onto our small portion of the earth.
I think the hardest part of Fall is getting used to the change in the light. The days are pitch dark at six in the evening. After the gloriously long days of summer, the shortened days of Fall are a huge change. And yet without change nothing gets better or stronger. To enjoy the fruits of Spring and Summer we must endure the darkness of Fall and Winter. The seasons are a constant reminder that life will always change. There will be ebbs and flows, ups and downs. There will be bright sunny days and short dark days of Winter. Life will joyously surprise us and completely lay us flat. It will surprise us with the unexpected and wear us down with the natural flow of time.
This year is quickly coming to an end. As you ponder the fruits of your days and the hope of yoru future, don’t be too harsh on yourself. Everyone has high times, everyone has low days. Life is like the seasons…and there is a time and season for everything. Sometimes you will win, other times you will lose miserably. Be grateful for the good times and learn from the low times. Spring will come and new things, renewed life, blooming ideas will grow into great fields of flowers. Look forward to Spring while you enjoy the sleeping of life this Fall…both are vital part of the seasons of life.
