Our Japanese family is visiting us this week. They just arrived and are enjoying a light snack before they go to bed. Some of us have not seen each other for almost thirty-five years. There are three generations of families here, from multiple states and continents. What a blessing it is to be able to spend time together under the same roof.
As you can probably tell from the picture, we are not all of the same nationality…and yet we are all family. Sometimes you are born with family, and sometimes you pick family. Sometimes you stumble upon family and sometimes you are given an opportunity to choose to add people to your family. All in all family is made up of lots of people and lots of different relationships.
What does your family look like? Do they all look like you? Do the people who you think are your family know that you would call them family? Be sure today to appreciate the people you call family…let them know that you cherish them. Value the time you have together and make it count. Some gatherings only happen once or twice in a generation, so as our the family you have that is all shapes and sizes.
