Public transportation is a beautiful thing. It allows us to travel from point A to point B in an orderly, reliable and economical manner. I find it interesting that public transportation allows us to travel anonymously. We stand next to people and know nothing about them. We sit next to them for hours without speaking, barely acknowledging their existence…yet we are in a public space. We travel together and share a common place in time, and yet we usually do it in silence. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I guess it depends upon your goal. If you want to not be bothered by people, it is the way to travel. If you want to meet people, you can do that too…you just have to break down a few walls first.
What walls do you need to break through to get where or what you want? What needs to change or stay the same in order for you to feel fulfilled? What piece of yourself are you hiding from all of us in order to feel safe? We all have those pieces we keep inside in order to stay secure. We create a world where we wiz by people all the time, not knowing who they really are inside…and they don’t know who we are either.
Today as you travel through your public life, think about if you have the courage to break down walls and show the real you. You might do it slowly or only with certain people, but be courageous and let us see the real you.
