No matter the talent or creation, I am constantly amazed at what people are able to produce with simple elements. My friend Sandra Barlow ( – Birds of My Heart) created this wreath out of a bird’s nest she found in the forest near her house, a sunflower, and Sweet Annie she grew in her garden. At our request she included birch bark and a crow.

One of the blessings of being creative is getting to know other creative people. We know potters, weavers, work workers, people who make paper, yarn, bronze sculptures, painters, welders, metalurgists, jewelers, and the list goes on and on and on…

I challenge you today to get to know someone who creates something different than your work. If you write, talk to a painter…if you paint, spend time with a potter or weaver. Being around creative people will spur your own creativity, and challenge you to look at the world through a different lense and alternative elements. Whether it’s a crow or some other bird of beauty, hang around others to gleam the beauty their work will invoke.
