We attended a family wedding over the weekend and it was beautiful. It was amazing to spend time with family and meet new people who are now family. What struck me most was the atmosphere of all the events. People no matter where they were from or how they knew this couple were full of hope and excitement.
Isn’t that the way it is supposed to be? New beginnings bring the prospect of change and a brighter future. When you attend a wedding you want to become infected with the hope that such a ceremony and commitment conveys. You want to belive that the world will be a better place because these two people have joined their lives before God. You want to believe that people are better with someone than without, that we all deserve someone who will love us unconditionally, and we want to know that no matter what happens this person will stand by our side. All that and more is what we experienced in this wonderful wedding weekend.
My encouragement to you today is that if you are married, remember why you got married in the first place. Why did you commit to this person for the long haul? And if you are not married and want to be, when you are searching for your other half, first BE the other half someone else wants…to paraphrase Ghandi, be the person you want to find in the world. The hope of a bright future truly is infectious and can change the world!
