Inspiration 210: Pleasantly Surpised

My step daughter Ashley sent me this photo of the technique she is using to dye sheets. It’s ice mixed with dye, then as the ice melts it mixes with the colors to create totally unique patterns. Very cool and very amazing.

One thing I find special about this technique, you have to give up control. You have to trust the process. You have to be willing to let the ice do the work, knowing that you may not know exactly how it is going to turn out. It’s a risk and not all of us are willing to risk. We want to control the end result, so we only travel the path we can control.

What would happen if today you gave up control of something? If you left it up to the elements or other people to determine the outcome. You might have to live with something other than your first choice…or you would have to adjust your master plan to accomodate something with which you had no control. It’s scary and exciting at the same time. I dare you to lose control – like this technique, let someone or something else be in control…you might be pleasantly surprised at the outcome!
