My nephew graduated from high school this week. The photo might be a bit blurry, but you can’t help but see the grin of pride on his face. In August he goes off to college to begin to make his way in the world.

Do you remember what it was like to be 18 years old facing the unknown? It was scary, exciting, daunting, and even a bit glamourous…all at the same time. The sense of hope and adventure almost surged through your veins every single day, and yet the fear of the unknown seemed ever present…

Where have you been since you were 18? What triumphs have you experienced? What disasters in life have you survived? How many years did you spend spinning your wheels or marching through the ruts of life, to only end up where you are now? Who have you become along the way? Have you reached your final destinantion yet…for your sake I hope not.

As graduation season comes to an end, I encourage you to be thankful for all the roads you have traveled, all the  lessons you have learned, and for all the people who have been part of your adventure. Approach today with the grin of a new high school graduate…the world is truly at your feet if you choose to believe!
