Inspiration 152: After All Else Fails

My husband installed a new door knob on our front door.  First, he opened the multiple packages of tidbits to install it. Second he made sure the new one fit into the old holes. Then he got out the power tools, then finally read the instructions.

Yes, there was a choice use of vocabulary words…and several moments when I wondered if he was the reincarnation of a mid century sailor. Some of the items that came with the new door knob did not work in our door – more colorful verbiage. But he kept at it. He even invented a couple new explicatives to exclaim as the hardware did not comply. After all that, he read and re-read the instructions…and re-read them, and re-read them.

After all else fails, follow the instructions…even if they were written by someone who would never do what you’re trying to do. They are there for a reason, and most of the time provide good insights into how to get things done. So today I encourage you to be patient with those #%@$#%!! instructions and endure to the end!
