These Japanese children are on a field trip enjoying a day at the park. You can almost hear their chatter and laughter. Different schools have their students wear different types of hats to identify them in large outdoor spaces. It’s a good idea. It also creates an atmosphere of comradery.
We are all wearing the same hat, going to the same place, to expereince the same thing. Yet take a closer look – they might be wearing the same hat, but many of them are wearing it in a unique way. Check out the kid in the center who flipped up the viser to show the white part underneath. Or the girl who pulled her strap tighlty under her chin. The same but different.
When you are with a group, how do you create comradery while still celebrating people’s differences? What makes us the same also provides opportunities to celebrate our uniqueness…the same but different.
