Inspiration 77: A Unique Terracotta Army



These are the unique creations of Phoebe Maze. She is a very talented clay artist from Waleska, GA. She purchased the mold for these soldiers in China, from the location where the original terracotta army was discovered. If you notice the sections of each soldier where there seems to be a bright spot in the glaze, that is where a piece of glass was included in the firing – the glass melted – and it created the unique look.  

I greatly enjoy how Phoebe created a creative tribute to the famous Chinese soldiers with clay and a special something else. It made me think about how many times I have seen pictures of the originals, and yet these made me take a closer look. Her talented eye draws us in to the size, features, and one of a kind finishes for each warrior. Well done Phoebe…
